Add/remove column headers from an "Issue Table" block

This article explains how you can add or remove columns from a table in a Notification Template.

Scenario

Currently, there’s no way to add or remove columns from an “Issue Table” block on a Notification Template.

But there’s a workaround to this, it utilizes “Global Templates”. Please follow the instructions below.

Workaround

For this workaround, you’ll need to use a copy of the “Table Template” Global Template.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. On your “Global Templates”, find the “Table Template” and duplicate it.

  2. Once it is duplicated, go to the copy of the original template and click on “Edit”

  3. and you’ll find the “Issue Table” block as the first component of the Notification Template:

    •

  4. By hovering your mouse over the “Issue Field” blocks that are already on the existing “Issue Table” block, you’ll notice a different block name, called “Table Cell”:

  5. To add more columns to your table, click on any “Table Cell” block and hit “Duplicate”:

    • This will copy the “Table Cell” and also the “Issue Field” blocks within the “Table Head” block.

  6. Then you’ll need to select the “Issue Field” block that was also copied over, and select a different field to be shown under that column:

  7. To remove any of the columns of your table, click on the desired “Table Cell” and hit “Delete”:

  8. This will remove both the “Table Cell” and the “Issue Field” blocks from your table.

Here’s an example of how the Default table looks like:

This is an example of the same table with the addition of another column (“Components”):
