How send notifications when a critical system goes down

Use Notification Assistant to send notifications to the appropriate channel when your critical business system goes down. Configure the initial notification to trigger based on Issue Creation. Escalations happen based on Issue Status and the amount of time that has passed since creation.

Step 1. Start configuring an email template

Go to Template Editor and create your email template. Provide a message and configure your email to draw attention to the important information. Since this is an outage, make the background of the email bright red, for example.

To learn more about how to configure email templates, go to Create Email Template and find JSD Issue in the Template Themes section.

Step 2. Create a notification

Go to the Notification Assistant administration and create a new notification. Provide project name in JQL expression. Pull the on-call person from the Assignee field for the outage, add the email template you created before and select event triggering for "Issue Created".

To learn more about how to create notifications, go to Triggered Notifications.

Step 3. Connect Slack channel

Configure the Slack notification to go to the appropriate channel and ensure it contains actionable information for your on-call staff so your team can react faster to an outage.

To learn more about how to connect Slack, go to Slack page.

Save your notification and don't miss critical outages. You’re done!
