Troubleshooting Installation

Confluence may display errors when trying to install. Below, we are going to go through the most common causes.

Duplicate apps

Users may face a message similar to “We ran into a little trouble“ during installation:

It is a known bug that multiple apps may have identical aliases within Confluence.

In our case, we use the alias markdown. Therefore, if any other app running in Confluence uses this alias, the error will be fired.

Atlassian is currently working on a fix for this behavior in the following issues:

• Disable Connect descriptor validator for macro alias vs macro alias clashing

• Fix issues caused by clashing between macro key and macro alias

• Consider referring Connect macros in the content in a globally unique way

The current workaround is to uninstall the conflicting plugins. Plugins we know for sure have a conflict are:

• ScriptRunner for Confluence

• HTML Macro for Confluence Cloud
